University of Illinois Noted in Organizations Uniting for Greater Good

Forbes published an article by Pete Wilkins discussing local organizations working to fight COVID-19. Among university peers like Northwestern and The University of Chicago, as well as corporate and startup companies like Cameo and Vital Proteins, the article showcased groups that were taking steps to innovate in the face of social and economic distress.

The University of Illinois’s Grainger College of Engineering and Carle Health were noted for their development of the  Illinois RapidVent, a working prototype emergency ventilator that plugs into the oxygen source available in most hospital rooms, and the Illinois RapidAlarm, which is a sensor and alarm system. Illinois Ventures portfolio company Earth Sense was mentioned for their adaption of the Terra Sentia robot to enable the farmbot to disinfect surfaces in hospital environments.
